1. Summary

ScanProds is a food scanner app. You scan product barcodes and the app helps you understand ingredients and nutrition with a simple health score.

We do not create our own cloud database for your personal profile and we do not build a profile about your identity. Most data are stored locally on your device.

To show product information, the app may send the product barcode and basic technical information to a food database API or service provider. This request is used only to find the matching product and nutrition facts.

Pro purchases (if available) are processed by Apple (StoreKit). We do not receive your payment details.

The free version uses advertising SDKs (Google AdMob). They may collect device identifiers and interaction data to display and measure ad performance. The app can show the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) system prompt where required by Apple.

You can clear local data in the app settings (if this function is available) or by deleting the app from your device.

The app is designed to help you make healthier everyday choices, but it is not a medical device and does not replace professional medical or dietary advice.

2. What data we process

2.1 Data you scan or enter in the app

When you use the app, you can:

• scan barcodes of food products;
• add manual notes or favorites (if this feature is available);
• view health scores and analysis for products.

Product scan history and your optional notes or favorites are stored locally on your device. These data are not automatically sent to the developer.

2.2 Requests to food databases

To show product name, ingredients, nutrition and score, ScanProds may send:

• the product barcode (EAN/UPC or similar);
• app version and basic technical data (for example, platform or language);
• approximate country/region (for localization of products, if used).

These requests are sent to a food database API or service provider. Your name, email, or precise location are not required for a normal product lookup. The external service may log IP address and technical information according to its own privacy policy.

2.3 Purchase data (Pro version)

If you buy a Pro version or subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple via StoreKit. We only receive information that a purchase or subscription is valid (for example, a receipt token or entitlement) to unlock Pro features on your device. We never see your full payment details.

2.4 Advertising partner data (free version)

The free version integrates Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect:

• device and advertising identifiers (such as IDFA, where permitted);
• information about ad impressions and clicks;
• approximate location and technical information about your device;
• information used for fraud prevention and measuring ad performance.

Usage is governed by Google’s policies: policies.google.com/technologies/ads .

Where required, the app may ask for your consent via App Tracking Transparency (ATT). If you decline, cross-app tracking identifiers are not used for personalized advertising. A Pro version (if available) may remove ads.

3. How we use the data

• To find product information in external food databases based on the scanned barcode.
• To calculate and display health scores and explanations inside the app.
• To remember your app preferences, favorites or history locally on the device.
• To manage access to Pro features (based on your App Store purchase status).
• To display and measure advertising in the free version (via Google AdMob).

4. Storage and security

Product history and local settings are stored only on your device, using standard iOS mechanisms (for example, UserDefaults or local storage). You control the security of your device (passcode, Face ID / Touch ID).

Data sent to external food databases or advertising providers are handled according to their own security and retention policies.

5. Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your personal data. Data can be shared in the following situations:

• Apple — for processing in-app purchases and subscriptions via the App Store and StoreKit.
• Food database providers — to resolve barcodes into product data and nutrition facts.
• Google AdMob and its partners — for displaying and measuring ads in the free version.
• Authorities — if required by applicable law or legal process.

6. Health information and children

ScanProds shows health-related information about food (for example, sugar, fat, additives, and scores), but it is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnoses or treatment recommendations. For personal health decisions, always consult a doctor or nutrition professional.

The app is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Your rights

Depending on your country, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your data. Because ScanProds does not keep your personal profile on a server, the fastest way to remove data is:

• use the “clear data” or similar option inside the app (if available); or
• delete the app from your device, which removes local data stored by the app.

8. International transfers

External services such as Apple, food database APIs and advertising networks may process data on servers located outside your country (for example, in the EU or USA). Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies and legal frameworks.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The new version will be published on this page with an updated “Effective date”. Your continued use of the app after changes means that you accept the updated policy.
